A young man suspected in a robbery at a residence in Shearstown, Bay Roberts, on the evening of Tuesday, April 22 is being hunted by police, and is believed to be in the St. John’s area.

RCMP Sgt. Greg Hicks said an arrest warrant has been issued for 21-year-old Barry Austin Morningstar.

He is believed to have been involved in an incident in Shearstown that generated a heavy police presence last week.

Hicks was hesitant to provide details of the case, but said a “small amount of cash” was stolen, and other offences may have been committed at the time.

Morningstar is a resident of

St. John’s, and “is not known to” police in the Trinity-Conception region, said Hicks.

When asked if Morningstar should be considered dangerous, Hicks replied, “Robberies are inherently violent offences, so we have some concern we need to get him into custody as soon as we can.”

Hicks described the search for Morningstar as “a very high priority.”

The suspect is described as 5-10 with a thin build, and has brown hair and brown eyes.

He has a tattoo on his left forearm with the word “Morning” and a star near the elbow.

He is known by several aliases, including Larr, Larr Pitts and Mark Fowlow.

Hicks confirmed he is “Aboriginal in appearance.”

Anyone with information can contact the Trinity Conception RCMP at 709-596-5014, or Crime Stoppers at 800-222-8477.
