Danny Dumaresque will seek southern Labrador Liberal nomination
Danny Dumaresque, Straits tunnel crossing advocate, has filed the papers to become a candidate for the Liberal nomination on the south coast of Labrador.
A former Cartwright-L’Anse au Clair MHA, Dumaresque will be attempting to unseat current Liberal Lisa Dempster.
He expects the nominations will be announced later today. In anticipation of that happening, he filed his papers and deposit yesterday.
He’s calling on his seven years MHA experience and a plethora of southern Labrador issues to run with. A few forefront issues that he will be pressing include the fishery, pavement, Straits fixed link and cellphone service.
Being sidelined as a politician for nearly two decades, Dumaresque said he feels more than ready to make a return.
“I believe that after the last 18 years, with my experience in the fish business, I will be able to go back better equipped to serve my former constituents, which I believe requires strong, effective leadership,” he said. “I want my old job back.”
