Port au Choix resident Dolores Rumbolt, a Steward and Cook with the Canadian Coast Guard, is $1 Million Richer!
Life for Dolores Rumbolt is a mix of time spent at sea working with the Canadian Coast Guard and time in her home town of Port aux Choix on the Northern Peninsula.
Ordinarily when on land, Dolores plays her favorite lottery games with one weekly purchase: Atlantic Lottery’s Combo #4, which is Lotto 6/49 and Lotto Max, fully loaded (with TAG, Twist, and Atlantic 49) for the Wednesday, Friday and Saturday draws!
Last week’s Combo #4 was anything but ordinary for Dolores Rumbolt. She stopped by the Deer Lake Circle K to collect a smaller prize from a Scratch‘N Win ticket and to validate her Combo #4 tickets. It was then she learned she had won the Guaranteed $1 Million Prize from the Lotto 6/49 May 7 Draw!
“I always thought if I won big, like a million dollars, that I would scream and do a happy dance,” Dolores explained, “but my reaction was total shock: I couldn’t speak!” she recalled. “I walked to the car in tears where my husband was waiting; I just could not believe it. I still feel like I am dreaming!”
Dolores has no plans to retire, but says she enjoys spending time with her two children, a daughter who lives in St. John’s, and a son in Grand Prairie, Alberta. She also enjoys visiting the sunny south and thinks she will do a little more travelling.
Since the launch of the new Lotto 6/49 in September 2013, this win represents the eighth $1Million Guaranteed prize awarded in Atlantic Canada. It’s the second millionaire introduced in Newfoundland and Labrador in as many days. On Wednesday Rick and Marion Traverse of Paradise, NL picked up their $1 Million cheque, a Top Prize from the $100 Million Prestige Scratch’N Win ticket.
