The May 2-4 long weekend is proving to be busy for the RNC.

A woman didn’t leave custody quietly Saturday morning.

At approximately 10:30 AM Saturday morning, a 36 old female was stopped in the area of the Witless Bay Line for impaired driving.

She was brought to RNC headquarters to be tested for impaired. When she was released from custody, the woman damaged a police vehicle and was arrested again for mischief. She was again taken into custody and held for a court appearance.

The impaired driving matter is under investigation by the RCMP.

At 9 AM Saturday morning, RNC officers charged a 32 year old male with impaired after he was reported passed out in a vehicle in the downtown area behind the wheel and parked the wrong way on a one way street. The male was released to appear in court at a later date.

Early Saturday afternoon, the RNC responded to a theft at a supermarket in the Topsail Road area. A 75 year old male was arrested for theft under $5000. He was released to appear in court at a later date.

A structure fire Saturday morning on Flower Hill in St. John’s resulted in minor damages. The investigation into the cause is ongoing.

A 48 year old man was arrested in the Merrymeeting Road area Sunday morning for uttering threats to cause bodily harm, causing a disturbance, and three breaches of probation. He was held at the lockup.

A 37 year old female was charged with fraud Saturday morning after an incident at a business at the Avalon Mall.

She was released for court at a later date.

A traffic stop on Lundrigan Drive in Corner Brook Saturday night found several under age drinkers.

Three females inside the vehicle, two aged 14 and one aged 15, were found to be consuming alcohol. The female youths were brought back to their homes and turned over to their parents. They were also issued warnings under the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

A small amount of marijuana and other drug paraphernalia was seized during a roadside check on O’Connell Drive in Corner Brook just after midnight Saturday.

A 23 year old female and a 28 year old male were detained under the controlled drug and substances act. The investigation resulted in a small seizure of what is believed to be marijuana and drug paraphernalia. The two suspects were released and the matter remains under investigation.
