St. John's businessman Paul Antle made it official today, announcing that he wants to run for the Liberals in the district of St. John's East.

Paul Antle is seen in this Oct. 24, 2012 file photo.

Antle is probably best known for coming in second behind Dwight Ball in the Liberal leadership race last year.

“I have been active in the Liberal Party for over 20 years, and I firmly believe in its fundamental principles,” Antle said in a news release. “Dwight Ball is a smart guy and I like his plan to build a team of strong leaders. I would like to be on that team and help Dwight bring about the change we so badly need for our province.”

The district is currently held by New Democrat MHA George Murphy.

Only 1 Liberal nomination has actually been contested so far in the keadup to the 2015 general election. The Liberals should be generating more interest than what appears to be an exclusive club.

The Liberal party is becoming a rich mans/woman's club. Is this the NL version of the New World Order? Are we returning to being ruled by the rich merchants?
