Utility worker injured in occupational accident

A 30-year-old utility company worker was treated for burns Tuesday in an occupational accident in Portugal Cove-St. Philip’s.

The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary, St. John’s Regional Fire Department and Eastern Health paramedics responded to the call on Ridge Road in the town around 3:52 p.m.

The man was transported to hospital for treatment. The provincial government’s occupational, health and safety division is investigating the incident.
