Man facing weapons and drugs-related charges

A 24-year-old Gander man is facing drug and weapons-related charges after the RCMP seized a loaded .22 calibre handgun and illegal drugs from an apartment in the central Newfoundland town Sunday.

Nicholas Sheppard is facing a total of nine charges under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act and Criminal Code.

In addition to the handgun, items seized by police investigators included cocaine, LSD, marijuana and Canadian currency.

Sheppard appeared in provincial court at Gander today. He has been remanded in custody until Tuesday for a bail hearing.

Members of the RCMP's Federal Policing Operations unit, with the assistance of Gander and Carmanville detachments of the RCMP, were involved in the search at the apartment in Gander.

    Why show replica weapons that can be legally bought in many places and a pseudo biker patch. Not real outlaws patch? Gun, coke, led, good bust but why show the rest. Don't make it look any better. To me it makes me think that cops think the general public are stupid and will swallow what ever they tell us. Like when they bust a pound of weed and say it's value is almost 10 grand. 6 g at most.
