DFO advises that from July 19 to Aug. 10 and from Sept. 20 to Sept. 28, people will be allowed to go after their bit of cod in all NAFO areas around Newfoundland and Labrador, which includes 2GH, 2J3KL, 3Ps, 3Pn, and 4R.

Fishing is not permitted in the Eastport and Gilbert Bay Marine Protected Areas.

Fishers are limited to five groundfish per day (including cod) but the maximum boat limit when three or more people are fishing is 15 groundfish. This includes tour boats.

Participants in the recreational groundfish fishery are asked to inspect their catch carefully for pink or yellow tags located in the back of the fish. The tags are uniquely numbered and have a DFO address and reward value ($10 or $100) printed on them. Participants should return the tag, along with recapture information and their mailing address to claim the tag reward.

last I heard nfld & labador is still a part of Canada SO why are we discriminated against by letting all other provinces fish for months & we get less than a month with no compensation for bad weather. we will remember this in the next federal & provincial election. these governments are not listening to us!!!
