Teen charged with fleeing from police while illegally driving ATV

A 14-year-old boy was arrested Sunday in Torbay and an all-terrain vehicle (ATV) he was driving was impounded by the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary.

According to the RNC, an officer attempted to stop an ATV operating illegally on Convent Lane in Torbay around 2:33 p.m. Sunday, but the driver fled from police.

According to the RNC, the patrol officer discontinued the pursuit in the interest of public safety. 

A short time later, the ATV and driver was located by the officer and the teen was arrested.  He was charged with flight from police, resisting arrest, driving with no insurance and numerous offences under the Motorized Snow Vehicles and All-Terrain Vehicles Act. The suspect was released to custody of his parents.
