The secrets to mastering a digital marketing strategy will be shared when international marketing sensation Mike Blinder comes to the province in July.
The free seminars with Blinder, who has helped put more than 60,000 businesses online, is sponsored by The Telegram and open to all local businesses.

Blinder, author of “Survivor Selling,” has established himself as the go-to guy for generating immediate improvements in online profiles and digital sales.

He says he can teach companies how — in as little as 20 minutes — to improve their ranking on Google and improve their use of social marketing to drive sales and create brand loyalty.

Blinder likes to call his style of marketing “street-fighting sales” since it’s aimed specifically at small business.

He learned the basics of this face-to-face selling putting himself through school by working at a local Radio Shack.

That’s where he was first exposed to customers and small business people looking to understand rapidly evolving technology.

Blinder, a self-professed geek, was in his element, but quickly realized many others were intimidated by technology and either didn’t understand it or dismissed it too quickly.

Todd Foote, regional sales director for TC Media, says the company is excited to bring someone with Blinder’s experience and reputation to present to current and potential clients.

“He has travelled the globe, consulting with some of the world’s most-respected media companies and corporations offering insight into best practices while discussing current trends and emerging opportunities in the world of advertising,” he says.

“This a truly a great opportunity for our business community.”

With the media landscape evolving at a lightning pace, Foote believes presentations like Blinder’s are important to help businesses fulfil their advertising needs.

“With so many directions to turn to, it’s easy to get lost.

“Keeping things simple with a structured multimedia strategy has shown to provide optimal results,” he says.

“Finding the appropriate mix of traditional and digital media is key. At The Telegram, for example, we offer a very strong readership in print and online, and paired with the thousands of digital properties available at our fingertips, we’re market leaders in helping businesses reach their target audiences.”

Topics in Blinder’s workshop include how the Internet works in easy-to-understand terms, who is online locally and if they are your customers, and how search engines like Google work.

Blinder will also cover using Facebook to find new customers and how to be found when people search online for products or services.

He will deliver six 90-minute sessions in St. John’s at the Suncor Energy Fluvarium: at noon, 2 and 4 p.m. July 10 and at 9 a.m., 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. July 11.

To register, contact Jamie Edgecombe, advertising sales manager, at 709-748-0814 or Jamie.Edgecombe@tc.tc.

Blinder will also be presenting in Corner Brook July 7, Grand Falls-Windsor July 8 and Clarenville July 9. For more information about those sessions, visit tcblinder.com.
