On Friday, RCMP members throughout Newfoundland and Labrador will be focussing on apprehending impaired drivers (alcohol and/or drugs) through saturation patrols.
A news release notes the RCMP has made impaired driving enforcement a national policing priority.
Impaired driving is a preventable crime.
“We all know how it affects communities and devastates families,” said Cpl. Anthony Young, RCMP Traffic Services East.
RCMP officers will be conducting numerous sobriety checkpoints at any given hour of the day or night with the target of taking impaired drivers off the roads.
Throughout every year, the RCMP will have impaired driving enforcement days in a concerted effort to increase enforcement and awareness of this serious societal issue and take impaired drivers off the roads.
