Police are calling a man’s unexpected death in North River early Sunday morning suspicious and bringing in additional resources to investigate.
According to Trinity Conception RCMP, police were called to a home in the community at 4 a.m. Police found a man inside who was suffering from serious injuries. Sgt. Greg Hicks said the man received immediate medical treatment, but those actions failed to save him — he died at the residence.
TC Media's The Compass is reporting that local sources say the man was stabbed.
Hicks said police will continue to hold the scene for as along as it deems necessary. An autopsy has not been scheduled, though Hicks confirmed it will take place at some point. No arrests have been made.
North River Road can only be accessed by local traffic while police investigate. The RCMP’s major crime unit and forensic identification services is assisting local officers with the investigation.
