More than a year after he was charged with luring a child over the Internet, an RCMP officer in Labrador is facing another count of the same nature.

Ian James Kaulback

Const. Ian James Kaulback was charged this week with unlawfully luring a child (under the age of 16) by means of a computer system.

The offence was said to have happened between Dec. 1, 2012, and Feb. 1, 2013, while he was stationed in Twillingate.

Kaulback, who is from Nova Scotia, is scheduled to appear in provincial court in Happy Valley-Goose Bay to answer to the charge on Nov. 18.

The court information was sworn in provincial court in St. John’s Monday.

Kaulback, 27, already faces a previous child-luring charge for an offence that reportedly happened between Feb. 1, 2013, and Feb. 8, 2013, in Hopedale while he had worked there.

Kaulback has already appeared in Happy Valley-Goose Bay court on that charge and has pleaded not guilty, He was released on bail with strict conditions, including that he adhere to a curfew and that he have no access to the Internet.

In that case, he has a preliminary inquiry scheduled to begin on Nov. 19.

An inquiry is held to determine whether there is enough evidence to bring the case to trial. It also gives lawyers a chance to assess the evidence.

The RCMP has asked the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary to handle the investigation in both cases.

Kaulback has been suspended from the RCMP without pay. He was recently living in Nunavut.

It's Hopedale. He was stationed there that whole year. Not in twillingate.
