A helicopter is pouring water on a small brush fire impacting a wooded area in Bauline.
According to a forest fire duty officer with the Department of Natural Resources, the fire was 30-by-30 feet in size.
A helicopter poured water on the affected area, but once the fire was under control, it was sent away, leaving a ground crew to deal with hot spots by using a hose and pump unit.
The duty officer said crews would likely continue working until nightfall and take another look at the area Wednesday to make sure there are no more hot spots.
A helicopter was deployed late Tuesday afternoon to deal with a small brush fire in Bauline.
The fire is reportedly situated in a hilly area behind the former town hall building in the Northeast Avalon community. Locally firefighters have not been able to access the fire with trucks because of its location within the forest.
The Department of Natural Resources is monitoring the situation. A further update is expected later this evening.
