The Grand Bank Regional Theatre Festival has been allocated $40,000 through the provincial government’s Cultural Economic Development Program.
The festival was one of six in the province to receiving funding totaling $280,000.
The Cultural Economic Development Program provides financial support to professional arts organizations for events or projects that stimulate sustainable economic development of the province's cultural resources.
Tourism, Culture and Recreation minister Sandy Collins made the funding announcement during this past weekend's opening of the Stephenville Theatre Festival.
“Our province boasts a wealth of talent in the theatre sector and in the arts community in general,” he said.
“Year after year, our province’s theatre festivals continue to offer a wide variety of entertaining and memorable performances, attracting both residents and visitors. As a government, we are pleased to support the festivals and the talented professionals who work tirelessly to create, produce and showcase the many incredible performances.”
