RNC officers promoted

The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) has announced the promotion of Supt. Jim Carroll to the rank of deputy chief and Insp. Marlene Jesso to the rank of superintendent.

In a news release, the RNC said each officer has contributed significantly to the success of the RNC throughout their careers.

Deputy Chief Carroll is a 32-year veteran member of the RNC. Carroll has been a member and team leader of the Tactics and Rescue Unit. He has served on the Use of Force Committee and Occupational Health and Safety Committee.

Carroll has also volunteered with the Outer Cove Concert Crowd and on the board of directors with the Stella Burry Foundation. He is also an accomplished rower and coxswain in the Royal St. John’s Regatta. He has been awarded the Queens Diamond Jubilee and 30-year Exemplary Service Medal.

On May 24, 2013, Carroll was appointed Member of the Order of Merit of Police Forces at Rideau Hall in Ottawa.

Supt. Jesso is a 31-year veteran member of the RNC. She has recently served as inspector in charge of the RNC’s Professional Standards and Training Section. She also currently serves as an incident commander and guard commander for the RNC Honour Guard.

Jesso is chairwoman of the RNC Domestic Violence Committee and volunteers with Mount Pearl soccer and basketball. She has been awarded the 30-year Exemplary Service Award and the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Medal.
