Faces 41 charges

Things are getting worse for James Robert Dwyer, the contractor accused of defrauding customers by promising to do work but never showing up to actually do it.

Dwyer was in court to be charged with some more counts of fraud and breaching court orders, and Crown attorney Kathleen O’Reilly said, “There’s some others coming as well.”

Dwyer is due back in court July 28, 29, 31 and Aug. 2 to deal with a raft of charges — mostly fraud under $5,000 and breaches of an undertaking.

In total, Royal Newfoundland Constabulary spokeswoman Nadia Churchill said Dwyer is facing 41 charges, including one count of driving while disqualified and several charges for failing to appear in court, alongside fraud charges around St. John’s, Mount Pearl and Portugal Cove-St. Phillip’s.

Churchill said some of those charges are a result of people contacting  the RNC after The Telegram and other media outlets covered Dwyer’s June court appearance.

“We do urge the public, if they’ve had incidents of a similar nature, to please call the RNC,” she said. “If it does sound like Mr. Dwyer and the offences that are connected to him, please call us and let us know.”

Dwyer has been in trouble in the past for similar offences.

When he was led out of court on June 16, a reporter asked him if he had anything to say.

“Yeah,” he replied. “F--- off!”

When a reporter asked Mr. Dwyer if he had anything to say, Dwyer said ' f - - k off '. Hey, isn't that what he said to all those people who paid him money for work that he didn't show up to do ? Doubt he'll use the ol' F- bomb when the Judge asks him if has anything to say . lol
