Conception Bay South cracks down on illegal use of off-road vehicles

The Town of Conception Bay South is warning residents driving off-road vehicles on roads in the town that they could be ticketed and have their vehicles confiscated.

Municipal enforcement officers stopped three dirt bikes on Red Bridge Road this week and issued a total of six tickets under the Highway Traffic Act and the Motorized Snow Vehicles and All-Terrain Vehicles Act.

“The safety of our residents is of the upmost importance to us,” Mayor Ken McDonald said in a news release. “We need to ensure that we are enforcing the rules and regulations of the road.”

The breakdown is as follows:

Three tickets were issued for operating an off-road vehicle on a highway;

Three tickets were issued for operating a vehicle without licence plates;

The Town of Conception Bay South reminds residents and visitors that it is against the law to ride off-road vehicles on town roads and on the T’Railway. The town’s enforcement of the traffic rules is in co-ordination with the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary.

    Way to go!!!! It's about time you get those kids off the road going around being a nuisance. I hope they get a stiff enough fine to teach them a lesson.
