Chipman was involved in an RNC sting gone wrong last winter when he was witnessed breaking into a vehicle at the MUN Field House parking lot.

Instead of the night ending with a simple arrest, an RNC officer fired a shot at the vehicle Chipman was in and an officer was injured as Chipman got away in the stolen vehicle.

Chipman is facing several charges of assaulting a peace officer and assault with a weapon. Chipman’s lawyer is arguing that his Charter right’s were violated when police used accessive force and also conducted an illegal search of his home.
