Name of man who died in boating accident released: RCMP

The RCMP has released the name of the 72-year-old man who died as a result of a boating accident Saturday near Bell Island, on the first day of the annual food fishery.

Gordon Reid from Cambridge, Ontario, who is originally from Bell Island, was taking part in the food fishery with two other family members when their boat overturned.

The three men were picked up by other boaters in the area and transported to shore.

Although the boat was equipped with life jackets, none of the three men were wearing them at the time of the incident.
