RNC seek public’s help to identify armed robbery suspect

The RNC is requesting the assistance of the general public in identifying the person responsible for two armed robberies at downtown St. John’s pharmacies Thursday afternoon.

The first occurred about 4:10 p.m. Thursday, when the RNC responded to the report of an armed robbery at PharmaChoice Pharmacy on Water Street.

The lone male suspect was armed with a weapon and entered the store demanding narcotics before fleeing the scene with an undisclosed amount. There were no injuries.

At 4:20 p.m., RNC officers responded to a second call of an armed robbery at Healy’s Pharmacy located on Casey Street. The male suspect armed with a weapon entered the store and demanded narcotics before fleeing the scene with an undisclosed amount.

The male suspect in both incidents is described as approximately 6’0” in height with a skinny build.

At the time of the incidents the suspect was described as wearing a black hoodie, black pants, white sneakers and red ball cap.

Anyone who has information that would assist in identifying the person responsible, or anyone that may have any information in relation to these crimes, is asked to contact the RNC at 729-8000 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).     Is there a reason many media outlets today refuse to mention he was black? On CBC news yesterday it was reported by eyewitnesses that the culprit was a black male. Its not racist to give an accurate description that might result in an arrest. Is the reason political correctness or laziness?
