Holyrood power trip caused early morning outage

Newfoundland Hydro is investigating a power trip at its Holyrood generating station early this morning that caused about 15,000 customers in the St. John’s-metro region to be without power.

A spokeswoman for Newfoundland Hydro said the outage, which began around 7:30 a.m., lasted only about 15 minutes. Areas from St. John’s west to Conception Bay South were reporting a loss of power.

It’s not known yet what caused the problem.

Newfoundland Hydro said on Twitter it has reserves in place to ensure quick restoration.

    Until they fire the managers and CEO's the same stuff will continue to happen. Support the line workers but the bosses have to go-go-go! They are not capable of managing this system and should maybe go to Somalia or somewhere else.
