Update: Missing boat found on Burin Peninsula

A boat reported missing on Monday has been recovered, according to Burin Peninsula RCMP.


In a brief statement issued Tuesday morning, police said the file will not require further investigation. The boat initially went missing from Freshwater Pond Park in Lewin’s Cove.

Boat stolen from park beach on Burin Peninsula

A boat was stolen from a park beach in the Burin Peninsula community of Lewin’s Cove over the weekend.

The Lone Star Monterey 15-foot fibreglass boat has a white hull and a baby-blue front deck. It was last seen on the beach at Freshwater Pond Park and was likely stolen between 7 p.m. Sunday and 11:30 a.m. Monday.

Burin Peninsula RCMP is investigating the boat theft. Anyone with information about this case is asked to call Burin Peninsula RCMP at 709-279-3001 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
