RCMP in Baie Verte say a woman in her 50s was sent to hospital with injuries on Wednesday following an ATV accident on a trail near Middle Arm.
The incident happened approximately 2:00pm when the woman, who was operating the ATV, had an accident involving the vehicle, sustaining injuries in the process.
Constable Ashley Coles says the incident took place on a trail near the road leading to Middle Arm in an area known locally as 'Lantern Hill.'
"Thankfully, a passerby on the road saw the ATV off the road and tipped over, and went to investigate," he said. "That passerby then flagged down other vehicles, and notified police."
RCMP and Paramedics responded to the scene, and the woman was conscious when they arrived. She was then transported to hospital in Baie Verte for further observation.
Coles says alcohol was not believed to be a factor in the incident. The seriousness of the woman's injuries aren't known at this time, however Coles described them as none-life-threatening.
"That information isn't known at this time, however she's lucky that someone was passing by and found her when they did," he said.
More information will be posted once if it becomes available.
