A documentary about one of Newfoundland and Labrador’s most popular premiers will make its debut at this year’s Atlantic Film Festival.

The National Film Board says “Danny” is an entertaining portrait of former premier Danny Williams.

The board says Williams boosted Newfoundlanders’ self-esteem and the province’s economy, and received unprecedented approval ratings for a Canadian politician during his tenure at the head of the province from 2003-10.

The film is directed by Justin Simms and William D. MacGillivray, who are from the province, and is produced by the film board’s Annette Clarke.

The world premiere of “Danny” will take place Sept. 13 at a theatre in Halifax as part of the Atlantic Film Festival.

So the world premiere of this documentary about a Newfoundlander will happen in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Obviously Mr. Williams was not able to place any good sense or understanding of geography into the heads of the directors or the National Film Board. Canada does not begin at Nova Scotia.

If the story contains as much "smoke and mirrors" and if it captures and documents the level of self-centered, egotistical and dictatorial flavor that his time in office so clearly showed then it might be worth watching. If it is nothing more than some producer and director kissing Danny Millions ass then it will be rather sickening to watch. I suspect it will be the latter and since I have had more than enough of this "wannabee god" I will be switching channels to avoid any of it!

Does it include how he blew all our oil revenues, made some back room deals, and then left office when it suited him? In the hands of Stunderdale?
