A 17-year-old male driver and his 18-year-old female passenger were injured in a multi-vehicle collision this morning near Howley on the Trans-Canada Highway on the province’s west coast.

Both were transported to Western Memorial Regional Hospital in Corner Brook and treated for non-life threatening injuries.

The Deer Lake RCMP says the accident occurred about 9:30 a.m.

The west-bound car driven by the 17-year-old crossed over the centre line striking the trailer portion of an east-bound transport truck. The car then collided with an east bound SUV.

The two occupants of the SUV and the lone driver of the transport truck were not injured.

The Deer Lake Fire Department had to use extraction equipment to free the 17-year-old from the car.

The cause of the collision is still under Investigation.

The weather at the time was clear and cloudy with dry roads.
