Two search-and-rescue aircraft responded to a medical emergency at sea Wednesday off the coast of Newfoundland.
According to Joint Task Force Atlantic, the vessel was located approximately 220 nautical miles south-southeast of Cape Race. A 39-year-old man required medical attention.
Personnel from 103 Search and Rescue Squadron in Gander hoisted the man onto an aircraft and transported him to the Health Sciences Centre in St. John’s. The Joint Rescue Co-ordination Centre in Halifax tasked a Cormorant helicopter and a Hercules plane to respond to the call for help.
