Newfoundland Power says loss of supply from NL Hydro is the cause of the outages and about 30,000 customers are without power.

The power outages affecting many areas of St. John's began around 7:20 a.m.

Locations affected include areas of St. John's, Bonavista, Clarenville, Conception Bay North and  Bay Roberts.

Newfoundland Power says rotating outages are required due to not enough available generation to meet customer demand.

so let me get this straight... we pay .NL. power and they have no problem cutting your power... winter. summer. spring. or fall. IF WE DON'T PAY OUR BILLS. And yet we as taxpayers. citizens have no choice to accept these power outages and rotating power outages...Which affects our jobs our children's education and our regular day to day ongoings. AND WE JUST HAVE TO DEAL WITH IT. HUH ????
