Snowmobile impounded after a ride through downtown St. John's

Fresh fallen snow and some people just can't resist the urge to get out their snowmobiles, but one man found out early this morning that it's illegal to snowmobile on a city street.

A 24-year-old man had his snowmobile impounded by police early this morning after driving it in downtown St. John’s.

The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary says around 2 :10 a.m., officers arrested the man snowmobiling on Water Street.

He was issued a seven-day driving suspension and his snowmobile was impounded.

    Oh for god sakes. I don't imagine there was any malice intended. And what a time I bet he had before the RNC pulled him over. People drunk driving, all the armed robberies and this is what you all are upset over. There's the problem right there...

    There should be a crackdown on the idiots driving around with windows, headlights and brake lights not cleared. They were everywhere this morning!
