Saturday night news release doesn't mention any specific cases

Cathy Bennett, the minister responsible for the status of women, made a statement Saturday night reiterating the province’s stance against harrassment.

Minister of Finance and President of Treasury Board Cathy Bennett disusses the Government Renewal Initiative with the media at Confederation Building Wednesday.

The statement came as controversy relating to allegations of sexual harrassment within the Spaniard’s Bay fire department made national and international headlines, though no mention of that situation, or any other, was made by the minister.

“Harassment in any form or at any time is not tolerated. Regardless of issues in any work place, sexual harassment is unacceptable. No person should be made to feel threatened or harassed in the workplace and we should all stand together against that type of behaviour. Our government, through the Women's Policy Office, works to help put measures in place to ensure all residents feel safe in their community and work environments,” Bennett said in a news release.

“We will continue to work together to stop all forms of violence and harassment. We will also continue to support the efforts of the Provincial Advisory Council on the Status of Women. Understanding and awareness of the serious issue of sexual harassment is all of our responsibility.”

please answer this as I am confused....did ms Seymour file a complaint of sexual harassment since the incident of 2014 or is it as appears that she only brought it up, through the media, the day after all the firefighters resigned. harassment of any type should never be tolerated but I want to know if there was ever and official complaint filed since it happened almost 2 years ago..... even when she spoke two weeks ago at council there was no mention of it???? please someone clear up this important issue...thanks :-)

What about Ms. Collins, she harassed and bullied by Ms. Seymour....why isn't anyone speaking up about that, that is the reason these firefighters resigned in the first place to support Ms. Collins when she couldn't take no more of it!!

No. Sexual harassment bad. Don't do it. Don't participate in it. Don't excuse it. How is that too difficult for you to understand? The vast majority of men get it. Those that don't... well, they are simple minded people who can't see beyond all-or-nothing thinking; you know, like "Men bad, women good."

Noble words indeed. Since allegations of harassment has been made known I await to see how she will put these noble words into action in this case.
