The Department of Transportation and Works has confirmed that a dump truck aboard the MV Capt. Earl W. Winsor went into the water at Change Islands Monday evening while the ferry was unloading.
"There were no injuries and the appropriate agencies have been notified," the department said in a statement Monday night. "An investigation into the cause of the incident is underway."
The ferry was taken out of service for the remainder of the night. A contingency air service will be arranged if needed and weather permitting.

In 2014, I was waiting in the line up at the Change Island-Fogo Ferry. I was a tourist stay-cationing. A rather loud lady from Change Islands in next car said to another, "I hates tourists!" I guess she wasn't happy that the wait in line to get the ferry can be longer during tourist season. I guess she wasn't wanting the tourist dollars for the region. Fear Not, Change Island Tourist Hater(s)! Stories like this will keep us away. If a trucker can't get off the ferry, something is wrong with it.
