Bridges cracked and corroded June 25, 2012

Through provincial access to information legislation, The Telegram obtained inspection reports on 731 bridges. Stories ran in The Telegram print edition June 23, 2012 accompanied by photos and graphics — all now part of this collection.

The bridge on Harvey Street (Route 70) in Harbour Grace, near the entrance to Riverhead, was built in 1969 and is in quite a dilapidated state. Vehicles are forced to slow down and swerve around the oversized potholes created by missing asphalt. Also, water runoff has severely eroded the earth near the bridge abutments.
