Police have arrested and charged four people in relation to a violent home invasion in St. John's early last week that left a 60-year-old man with head injuries.

And police say more arrests could be coming as the investigation unfolds.

Rene Seers, 27, Stephen Clowe, 24, Dean Lewis, 31, and Regina Myers, 50, each appeared in St. John's provincial court Saturday after being arrested by police Friday.

They were officially charged and remanded into custody for a bail hearing Wednesday.

Seers and Clowe were each charged with armed robbery, break and enter, aggravated assault, assault with a weapon and forcible confinement.

Lewis and Myers were each charged with obstruction of justice, possession of stolen property and breaching probation. Lewis is also facing a charge of breach of a recognizance.

Police say that at about 11:30 p.m. Monday, three men - one of them carrying a handgun - knocked on the door of a home on McKenzie Street. When the female homeowner opened the door, the men forced their way inside and assaulted the male homeowner.

He suffered head injuries and was taken to the Health Sciences Centre for treatment and was later released.

They say the men ran away with cash from the house.

RNC Const. Paul Davis said the robbery "was a violent crime."

"This particular home was targeted."

He said police are still investigating the robbery.

The RNC has also executed a search warrant at a home on Merrymeeting Road and were continuing the search over the weekend. Davis declined to give any details on what led them to search the home.

"There is potential that there could be further arrests," he said.
