The murder trial in the death of George Benoit of Piccadilly continued in Supreme Court in Corner Brook Wednesday morning.
Friends and neighbours of the Benoits and the man who has admitted to killing him, Christopher Vladislov Sawicki, took the witness stand for the duration of the morning session.
Joe Hefferan and his wife Belinda Furlong provided testimony that described much of the same bizarre behaviour as witnesses did on the first day of the second degree murder trial. The couple, volunteer firefighters, provided further details as to what they found as the first people on the scene in the early morning of April 24, 2008.
A jury is tasked with determining whether Sawicki is guilty of second degree murder, arson and theft or if he is not criminally responsible for his actions.
Dr. Nazir Ladha, a forensic psychiatrist, will take the stand this afternoon.
