The Kids Eat Smart Foundation has announced that Paul McDonald - a partner in the St. John's office of Cox & Palmer - is the new chair of the foundation's board of directors.
"Paul has been a member of our board for the past two years and we are pleased to have him move into the role of chair of our foundation, and we look forward to the future under his leadership," said Kids Eat Smart Foundation executive director Daphne LeDrew.
The appointment was made during a May 31 board meeting.
McDonald is a former president of the Law Society of Newfoundland and Labrador, and an adjunct professor with the faculty of medicine at Memorial University. His practice is focused primarily on health law, estates and trusts and civil litigation.
He was recognized with the Distinguished Public Service Award from the Newfoundland and Labrador branch of Canadian Bar Association in 2002.
A registered charity, Kids Eat Smart supports the education, health, and well-being of school-aged children. The foundation has established more than 200 breakfast, lunch and snack clubs in the province, available to more than 52,000 children on any given school day.
The foundation is supported by the provincial government, and by corporate partners and donors.
