Lt. Gov. John Crosbie and his wife, Jane Crosbie, have sent out their official invitation for members of the public to come and visit Government House in St. John's this summer.
The lieutenant-governor's annual Garden Party at the residence has been scheduled for July 21 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.
"This event provides an opportunity for the public to meet Their Honours, enjoy Government House grounds and mingle with friends. This year's Garden Party will feature pageantry and musical performances by the CLB Band, the Signal Hill Tattoo and the Celtic Fiddlers. Refreshments will be served by the Girl Guides," states the notice.
With a reservation (call 709-729-4494), visitors may take in a guided tour of the home itself throughout the summer. With a separate appointment (709-729-0447), visitors can see the stables, home of the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary's Mounted Unit, located on the grounds. And, again with a reservation (709-729-4494) the Government House grounds can be booked for wedding photos. Appointments for photos can be made for Monday to Friday from 4:30 p.m. to 8 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
The grounds of Government House are open to the public year round - Monday to Sunday, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Along with planned flower beds and professional landscaping, visitors will find the trees planted in recognition of past official visits by royal family members.
