Well-known author to headline youth-care conference

The Child and Youth Care Association of Newfoundland and Labrador announced today that well-known author and educator Michael Ungar will headline the 2010 annual conference, Nurturing Hidden Resilience, to be held at the Battery Hotel in St. John's Thursday and Friday.
Ungar is the author of nine books and more than 70 articles and book chapters. His works include "The We Generation: Raising Socially Responsible Kids", "Too Safe for Their Own Good: How Risk and Responsibility Help Teens Thrive", "Counseling in Challenging Contexts", and "Strengths-based Counseling with At-risk Youth."
Joan Burke, Minister of Child, Youth and Family Services, will bring greetings on behalf of the provincial government Thursday.
The fifth annual provincial conference will bring together child and youth-care workers, social workers, probation officers, foster parents, researchers, psychologists, guidance counsellors and teachers.
