Police in St. John's have charged a man with threatening and trying to rob several people in the Empire Avenue area with a weapon - or imitation.
Wayne Dunne, 35, was arrested around 6:30 p.m. Saturday. Police say he had two foot-long pieces of pipe that he was pointing like a shotgun at people.
Police say he attempted to rob a woman and a man at "gunpoint" and threatened two others before his arrest.
Dunne was formally charged Sunday morning with four counts of uttering threats, possession of a shotgun or imitation thereof, and two counts of robbery.
Dunne was remanded until a Monday bail hearing can be scheduled.
