Police in St. John's are investigating a stabbing near a Duckworth Street Bar Saturday night.
One man was sent to hospital and another was taken to the St. John's lock-up to appear in court this morning on a handful of serious charges after the 3 a.m. scuffle in or near a Duckworth Street pub.
A long-haired and mustachioed Allan Windfield Potter appeared in provincial court wearing police-issue plastic coveralls and a blue and white hoodie. The 47-year-old man said nothing while lawyers explained that he would be remanded until a Monday bail hearing could be scheduled.
Court documents show that Potter is facing assault charges against four people, including the assault with a weapon and assault causing bodily harm against one man, who was sent to hospital to be treated for non-life threatening injuries.
Potter is also accused of possessing a weapon - a knife - causing a disturbance, breaching a probation order and threatening a police officer.
There is no word on the condition of the victims.
