The federal government announced today it is investing $521 million over the next five years to revitalize Marine Atlantic and renew its fleet and shore facilities at North Sydney in Nova Scotia, and at Port aux Basques and Argentia in Newfoundland.
As part of the investment, North Sydney will get a new ferry terminal.
Marine Atlantic officials made the announcement during a news conference this afternoon in North Sydney.

My only question is once the North Sydney Terminalis built, how much will be left over to increase service, capacity, etc. on the Newfoundland side of the Gulf.

Please give all the residents of Newfoundland free access to the rest of Canada. We have suffered enough at the whim of Marine Atlantic. This waterway is also part of Canada and the cost should be covered as if it were a roadway. Many of us have family and friends in the Atlantic and rest of Canada. Some of us would like to drive instead of fly. The cost is disgusting to transport a vehicle and familyon one of Marine Atlantic's vessels.
