Englee company in court on OHS charges

Sealand Enterprises on the Northern Peninsula was scheduled to appear in court today, charged with five health and safety violations by the provincial government.
The boatbuilding company in Englee is accused of violating legislation requiring ventilation of their facility, wearing proper respiratory equipment and failing to install effective washing facilities.
On top of that, the provincial government charged them with violating two stop work orders regarding the ventilation. They also said that the company was operating an overhead crane without the proper inspection.
The charges stem from inspections of the facility between July 2008 and January 2009.
The company's first appearance in provincial court in St. Anthony was on April 26; they are scheduled to be back in court today.
