About 2:25 a.m., an officer located a vehicle in a wooded area off Duley Lake Road, about 10 kilometres west of Labrador City. The operator of the vehicle was trying to move it but its was stuck on some large rocks.
As the officer spoke with the driver of the vehicle he noticed signs of impairment and the driver was given a breath demand. About 4:46 a.m., members of the RNC responded to a report of a disturbance on Elm Street in Labrador City.
The officers located the suspect in a vehicle outside a residence on Elm Street. The suspect had apparently threatened the female occupant of the residence and smashed out her window.
The suspect tried to leave the area in his vehicle but was arrested at the scene by RNC officers. As the officers spoke with the suspect they noticed signs of impairment and the driver was given a breath demand.
The driver failed the breath tests and as a result the 32-year-old male resident of Labrador City has been charged with impaired driving and operating a motor vehicle while his blood alcohol level was over the legal limit. He has also been charged with mischief to property, uttering threats and resisting arrest.
He was issued an automatic 24-hour driving suspension and an automatic 90-day driving suspension which starts on July 18. He was held at the RNC lock-up pending a bail hearing. The suspect and the victim in this matter are known to each other.
