The founder and former publisher of Breakwater Books in St. John's has been charged with a single count of sexual assault.
Clyde Rose, 72, did not appear in provincial court today, but lawyer Bob Buckingham appeared on his behalf.
The alleged incident happened between Christmas Day and Boxing Day last year.
The Crown told the court it would be proceeding with the matter as a summary offence.
He will be back in provincial court on July 23.
