A woman was sent to hospital with non-life threatening injuries not long before fire crews managed to put out a car fire near Paddy's Pond this evening.
The woman's car was hit from behind by another car near where crews were trying to put out a vehicle fire on the Trans-Canada Highway.
Fire crews had to refill a pumper truck from the pond, but managed to get the fire out without much effort.
Police officers from both the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary and the RCMP are on scene and traffic was reduced to one lane in the west-bound highway.
When firefighters arrived at the location this afternoon, they found a car well alight. The cause of the fire is not known at this point, but there were no injuries in that incident.
