A 21-year-old man was arrested Tuesday at a residence in Gander during an effort by the RCMP that involved members of the local detachment, the RCMP's emergency response team and other assisting units of the RCMP.
The RCMP was responding to a complaint the accused had threatened someone by pointing a firearm at the person.
Under a search warrant, the RCMP searched the residence for prohibited and restricted weapons, and retrieved some evidence, but did not say what was found.
The accused remains in custody and was to appear in provincial court in Gander today on charges of uttering threats and pointing a firearm, as well as charges under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.
The investigation is ongoing into some of these matters.
