A 30-year-old woman died this morning of injuries she sustained in a single-vehicle collision just outside of Cartwright, Labrador.
About 8:40 a.m. today, RCMP Telecoms Section advised an on-call Cartwright officer of the collision.
The RCMP was advised the woman had been ejected from her vehicle and had severe injuries.
An ambulance was dispatched to the scene and when the RCMP officer arrived, a SUV was lying in a ditch where it had crashed and the woman - who at that time was suffering from extensive injuries - was lying about 20 feet from the vehicle and was being tended to by medical personnel.
The RCMP says there were no signs of alcohol or drug use, and she was the only person in the vehicle. It appears a seatbelt was not worn.
The woman later succumbed to her injuries at the local clinic less.
Her name is not being released at this time.
RCMP traffic services reconstructionalists/analysts will be examining the scene Thursday. An RCMP guard has been left on scene to protect evidence including markings on roadway and vehicle.
