The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary is advising local businesses about a 45-year-old man opening up fraudulent accounts in the St. John's and Mount Pearl areas.
Richard Sharpe has allegedly been opening up fraudulent accounts in the cities under the names of two legitimate businesses from Corner Brook, Sharpe's Frozen Foods Ltd and Marble View Estates Ltd.
Sharpe does not have authorization to conduct official business for these companies and, over the course of the last two months, has allegedly defrauded the owners for approximately $60,000.
The force's economic crime unit is requesting the public's assistance in locating Sharpe.
Police also have an outstanding warrant for Sharpe's arrest stemming from a separate investigation in the Corner Brook area.
Anyone that may have any information in relation to the whereabouts of Richard Sharpe are asked to contact the RNC at 729-8000 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
Information can also be provided on the NL Crime Stoppers website at www.nlcrimestoppers.com.
