A 26-year-old man from western Canada was arrested Thursday in St. John's after a huge quantity of Ecstacy pills were seized by police.
RCMP members, during a search of a home in Airport Heights, seized approximately 12,000 ecstasy tablets. Each pill is commonly sold on the streets of Canada and the U.S. for between $10-$20.
The seizure is one of the three largest Ecstacy seizures in the history of policing in the province.
The St John's RCMP Drug Section and other RCMP support units arrested the man who only recently moved to this province and was staying with a friend in Airport Heights.
He is facing charges for possession for the purpose of trafficking and trafficking in a controlled substance.
The accused is in custody and a bail hearing is scheduled for today in provincial court in St. John's.
