Two St. John's boys charged with throwing rocks from overpass at police car

Police in St. John's have arrested two teenagers, after officers say they were caught throwing rocks off an overpass into oncoming traffic.
Officers say the boys were throwing rocks off the Pitts Memorial Drive overpass at Pearltown Road around 3:45 a.m. Officers caught up with them after they struck the windshield of a police car.
Police stopped the car and chased the boys, who were charged and appeared in provincial court in St. John's this morning.
Jeff Ross, who turned 18 at midnight, has been charged as an adult.
The other boy who has been charged cannot be named under the Youth Canada Justice Act.
Both boys are facing a single charge - mischief - but the charge is on the more serious side because the act could have endangered lives.
Ross was released on an undertaking to appear in court at a later date.
The other boy was held in custody until a bail hearing could be scheduled in youth court in the morning.
