A Corner Brook man wanted for fraud has been arrested and appeared in court in St. John's on Saturday morning.
Police issued a warning to area businesses earlier this week that Richard James Sharpe, 45, was opening fradulent accounts at businesses in the St. John's/Mount Pearl area, in the name of two legitimate Corner Brook firms. The two companies have been defrauded of about $60,000, say police.
Sharpe was arrested Friday and appeared in provincial court Saturday morning, charged with two breaches of probation, in addition to three outstanding charges from Corner Brook in May 2009: one count of failing to attend court and two more breaches of probations.
Sharpe is due back in court Monday morning for a bail hearing.
